Frequently Asked Questions

What does it actually involve?

Retraining your brain is like any exercise.  But you can’t train the right part unless you know which part requires work.  Cognitive Remediation is a type of intervention that identifies the areas of concerns and targets specific interventions to improve that area by utilising visual-sensory aids.

What is involved in the 20 module workbook?

Our proprietary workbook has been created by in house Psychologist and Occupational Therapists. The in house workbook assists in the transfer of learnt strategies and cognitive skills. Research has shown this to be effective in treating clients who experience cognitive deficits.

What do Cognitive Remediation therapy sessions look like?

Playing a game on a computer does not necessarily make you good at improving that cognitive area of concern.  It only makes you good at playing that game. The type of Cognitive Remediation that we do is a targeted session involving a clinician and a duo or trio of well matched individuals. Individual sessions are also offered, however, for psychosocial benefits duo sessions are encouraged.

Will I be receiving support throughout the sessions?

We’ve got you! A skilled clinician will be in every session to help with the implementation of strategies  and new cognitive skills! Our team of allied health professionals including psychologists and occupational therapists will be with you every step of the way.

What will duo/trio peer sessions look like?

Social connection is innate to us all. Through the facilitation of peer mentoring sessions, it allows for social engagement whilst also learning new cognitive skills and strategies. Individuals will be paired up in duo’s (two) or trio’s (three), specifically picked by our skilled clinicians to ensure match compatibility.

Why not have fun and interact with others, whilst enhancing cognition! A skilled clinician will be in every session to help in the facilitation.
